Target - 3D Shape from 2D Image

Track offers robust real-time tracking of simple geometric shapes based on a single image as an input:

Supported geometric shapes are:

• Plane

• Box

• Cylinder

To track Shape targets, they need to be trained using the VIRNECT Track Target Trainer.

For more complex shapes with full 3D geometry and texture information, Object3D targets can be used.

Characteristics

In some cases, the texture information of 3D objects that are potential tracking targets is not available in digital form. This could be the case for a graffiti on a wall, or any other handcrafted object. Shape targets allow to correctly track such objects, based on a simple photography taken from nearly any perspective.
