Target - Object 3D
Track offers robust real-time tracking of complex 3D objects:
Any textured 3D object can be tracked as long as there are enough visual features on the surface. 3D objects without any visual features can be tracked as CAD Targets.
To track Object 3D targets, they need to be trained using the VIRNECT Track Target Trainer.
Visualization
By default, Object3D targets are visualized with their axis-aligned bounding boxes.
If the target file was trained with the --exportModel
option, and the exported .obj file is kept next to the .track file, the original model is used for visualization instead.
Characteristics
To track an Object3D target, the full 3D geometry of the object is necessary, along with the full texture and the mapping between the geometry and the texture. This can be created in 3D modeling software, or derived from an existing 3D object by photogrammetry.
Some simple shapes (including boxes and cylinders) can be tracked from the physical sizes and a single image of the target as Shape targets.
